Claverhouse Enterprise Club

Claverhouse Enterprise Club has now been launched, with the first session focusing on the essentials of starting your own business. The Club meets at Staffa Place every Thursday at 2pm and is led by our Business Advisers, John Main and Anne Imrie. The Club has already made progress, with an outline plan for a start-up social enterprise ready to be submitted to First Port for consideration for a grant. Harry McLevy Memorial Awards 2011

The 15th Harry McLevy Memorial Award was presented today to Ross Irvine from Menzieshill High School. Laurie Presswood from Harris Academy was Highly Commended. The other section winners were Stephanie Smith (St Paul’s), Nick Leck (St John’s) and Brooke Gall (Craigie).

Scottish Power Energy People Trust

Claverhouse have secured funding to run Energy Saving courses for clients for the next three years from the Scottish Power Energy People Trust. The Trust helped us build our Energy Flat four years ago, which has been used regularly to provide practical demonstrations on how to save energy in the home. The new grant will extend this service and allow us to continue offering advice and advocacy to unemployed people in Dundee. There has never been a greater need, as soaring fuel prices and reducing benefits push more and more people into fuel poverty.
